Diabetes type 2 symptoms
In many instances, diabetes is hard to detect because diabetes type 2 symptoms, also called Diabetes mellitus, may not show up. When no signs of diabetes are visible, high levels of sugar in the blood (glucose) are only detected in a routine blood test; unfortunately, by then, those high levels of sugar may have already caused some damage.
Here is a list of some Diabetes Type 2 Symptoms that may show up when a diabetes condition is present.
The result: a vicious circle where you lose water and you pee more, which leads to dehydration, which prompts you to drink more, which leads to more urination. And the circle goes on and on. If you have this symptom there is no reason to panic yet, however, because not all the thirsty people out there have diabetes, of course.
2. Blurred vision. If your level of blood sugar is too high, the sugar builds up in your eyes. The excess sugar also
attracts more liquid, changing the shape of the lens in your eyes and making your vision blurry.
3. Weight loss. In diabetes type 2, for different reasons, your cells are not getting the glucose they need to produce energy, so they cry out for more food. Eating more in this case doesn’t solve the situation because glucose cannot enter the cells. Thus, sick and tired of crying for food, the system goes to the fat cells and gets the fat it needs to create energy. This means your fat cells lose fat and you lose weight.
4. Fatigue. Since the cells are not getting enough glucose, they can not produce energy. Chores like dusting your living room can leave you as tired as if you have done spring cleaning.
5. Frequent infections and slow healing of wounds or sores. When your blood sugar is higer than normal it also means that your body tissues have higher levels of sugar than they should. This leads to bacteria growth and, as a result, infections. Most common sites of infection are your bladder, kidneys, vagina, gums, feet, and skin.
I suggest that if you have any of the diabetes signs and symptoms I have mentioned, you make an appointment with your doctor to have a fasting blood test done. But even if you don’t have any symptoms, if you are 44 years old and overweight, please have a blood test done.
To your health!
