The Reason for Creating The Diabetes Club

The-Diabetes-Club is a blog created to help people prevent or control Diabetes Type 2, as well as health issues such as High Blood Pressure, High Levels of Damaging Cholesterol and Overweight that are very damaging to people with diabetes.

Can Diabetes type 2 be prevented?

Diabetes type 2 can be prevented. But if you already have a diagnosis of diabetes, you can control the ups and downs of blood sugar –a key factor in preventing complications down the road- through a healthy life style that includes adequate nutrition and being physically active.

In this blog you will find useful information to help you understand how nutrition and exercise affects the way your body works. Through the information presented in this blog you will become familiar on how to manage your blood sugar levels, how to lose weight, and how to prevent the many complications of diabetes such as heart disease, high cholesterol and high blood pressure.

Who is Emilia Klapp

I would start by saying that I have a Bachelor Degree in Nutrition Science conferred by California State University, Los Angeles and that I am certified as a Registered Dietitian.

For those who are not familiar with the term “Registered Dietitian” – if you are not in a medical environment you probably are not- this means that after obtaining my bachelor degree, I have completed almost a year of practices as a nutritionist in hospitals and I have passed the required test by the American Dietetic Association to officially become a Dietitian at the national level.

I should mention here that being born and raised in Spain has been a big determinant in my writing this book as I grew up embedded in the Mediterranean diet principles. Witnessing how positively the fundamentals of this diet and lifestyle have affected Spaniards -as well as the rest of the people in other Mediterranean countries such as Italy and Greece- has made me a firm believer and supporter of the traditional Mediterranean lifestyle.

After working for other companies as a Dietitian, I opened my nutrition consulting office in the City of Montebello, California, where I help people prevent and manage diabetes type 2 and lose weight. People taking my nutrition courses may also prevent or improve conditions such as heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and digestive disorders.
